Asmongold compares FFXIV with Lord of the Rings and is excited

The Twitch Gigant Asmongold is normally known for its streams inworld of Warcraft. But recently he started to play at Final Fantasy XIV and now compares the story highlights of the basic game "A Realm Reborn" with the classic Lord of the rings.

The situation soon:

  • Asmongold is currently the largest streamer on Twitch (as of July 2021).
  • Some time ago he decided to give the famous MMORPG FFXIV a chance.
  • Now Asmongold has completed the first campaign of the game and played "a Realm Reborn".
  • He now attracts a serious conclusion to the basic game on his beside channel on Youtube.

Attention: Follow spoilers to the main story of FFXIV and the Bahamut Raid.

That says Asmongold: in his conclusion video he released on the next-channel Zackrawrr, Asmongold expressed himself to his impressions of the story of Arr. His general impression of it is very positive. The story of A Realm Reborn just feel good and "so much better than I expected". Especially because the streamer has often been warned from the fans before starting in FFXIV from the fans that this section of the story was boring.

For Asmongold, these warnings have not been proven. Above all, a scene inside the main story, it really did the streamer and was "very special" for him.

It happens when you climb on the top of the crashed videole. [...] There is this huge dragon Midgarsormr. He wound around the flagship and crashed it [...] and killed the dragon. [...] So you go high on this ship and see the dragon. The eyes of the dragon are just red and he starts to talk to you. The dragon speaks, though he should be dead.

What the cool is because of it is that the game takes a story that has a little focus and making something really big. It's so hard to create for a game, such a moment. To make him so pure and grandiose as possible, so as to have a great effect and to trigger this really emotional reaction. I think you have made an incredibly good job. [...]

ASMONDOLD

That's why the "Lord of Rings" comparison: ASMONDOLD emphasizes that the story of FFXIV is much more complex and far-reaching, when you think at first. He compared this highlight of the action of the base game with the reappearance of Gandalf in the second part of the "Lord of the Rings" films. It has triggered similar emotions and leave a similar impression:

I wondered what other story is there, which has made the same [like FFXIV] and I found two examples particularly well, which underline my point: The first is when Gandalf comes back in the two towers. He comes back and everyone thought he had died. He shows up, disarms Aragorn, Gimli and Legolas within a second and says, "I'm back. I defeated the Balrog. " And you only think of you "Oh my God, I would never have expected that." It expands what Gandalf is and makes the entire world so much bigger. [...] That's exactly how [the action of FFXIV] feels.

ASMONDOLD

The second example that brings Asmongold in his video as a comparison came from the celebrated manga classic "Berserk" by Kentaro Miura. This work is also celebrated by millions of fans for his story and depth. The director of FFXIV, Naoki Yoshida, is itself a fan of it and the history of the sign dark knight was inspired by the manga.

Here you can see the entire video:

What else does he say? In his conclusion, Asmongold acts enthusiastically about FFXIV. He tells that he has played the game mostly like a single player role-playing game, but that does not mean a way negative. The game is powered by his story and that would have really done him.

For the first time "caught" FFXIV has him before his meeting with Midgarsormr:

In the story itself, I have really lost myself the first time when I was in the Bahamut Raid. [...] As Alphinaud and his sister Alisaie find down her grandfather Louisoix and ask him, "What happened? Why is Bahamut still alive? " [...] Then [Louisoix] looks to the side, the screen is white and a completely animated cinematic is played, where the type transforms into a phoenix [...]. He becomes a Kamehameha ball and pierced Bahamut's heart. And just then the entire world was revived. [...]

He understand why so many people would love the story of FFXIV and are very important. Especially with a MMORPG that would not be easy to reach, but the developers have done it and ASMONDOLD keeps it great.

The streamer also explains that another personal highlight is the plot of moral gray. So it turns out that something that is simply devilically evil in the beginning was actually a good deed. You get to know his opponents and understand the reasons for their actions. It's not always about revenge and death, but also for second opportunities and forgiveness. These plot twists make the story of the game great.

He has fun with the raids

What does he say to the other aspects? Especially imagined Asmongold seems to be from the RAIDs in FFXIV. He says that the Raids are in addition to the story his previous highlight in the game. He explains that the RAIDs in the game make the same thing with him, like the story: They offer much more than one would have expected.

Asmongold then goes on the role of the tank and tells that you usually do not have to do much as a tank, out of damage.

[...] It's funny because as a tank you usually sit normally only there and meets. And that was it. [...] In FFXIV I have to do so much more [than in Wow]. I admit: It was really difficult and I had to make an effort. To a certain extent, I am also concerned with mastering things that other people find difficult. That fulfills me, from that I can take fun. [...] And if I had to say why I really like to play FFXIV, then it would be because of the Raids.

In FFXIV, however, as a tank would have to do many more mechanics specifically for the tank role, and that's exactly what the streamer is so much fun.

How does it continue? Asmongold emphasizes in the video again that he will not stop with World of Warcraft. He still loves the MMORPG, even if he is just more frequent in FFXIV. But he is looking forward to the next story campaign in FFXIV. Next, the story of Heaven's Ward is standing in front of him.

In addition, he has already announced that he wants to complete all successes to get the magnificent fire bird mount he lovingly referred to as "Golden Lugia". The journey of the streamer in FFXIV is so far away from being over.

He also thanks his community to support him so much, even if it does not go around Wow. Just as he thanks for the players of FFXIV, which have taken him so cordially.
