Tennis: Berrettini and Gauff not in Tokyo

Even Wimbledon Finalist Matteo Berrettini and US Hope Cori Gauff will not participate in Tokyo at the Olympic Tennis Tournament. Italy's Olympia Committee Coni announced on Sunday that the 25-year-old Berrettini had to cancel because of a muscle injury. A few hours later, GAUFF announced on Twitter that she had been positively tested on Corona and therefore could not play with Olympia.

The World Rankliste Berettini and Gauff are in a long list of prominent players who will not be at the start in Japan. Among other things, Roger Federer (Switzerland), Rafael Nadal (Spain), Angelique Kerber (Kiel) and Serena Williams (USA) are missing.

Berrettini is said to have raised the injury to Wimbledon, where he was the first Italian into the single final. There he lost the world ranking Novak Djokovic (Serbia).
